The MelanoPro Peel System: My Med-Spa Answer to Stubborn Pigmentation

By Jamie Sanchez, Licensed Esthetician · October 2024 · Truth In Beauty, Stockton CA

Some pigmentation responds beautifully to regular brightening facials and gentle peels. And some of it just... sits there, year after year, ignoring every serum you throw at it. If you're in the second group, this post is for you. The MelanoPro Peel System is the med-spa tier of my practice — the tool I reach for when standard approaches have hit their ceiling.

When regular brightening isn't enough

Pigment lives at different depths. Surface-level discoloration — the aftermath of a breakout, light sun spots — often improves with consistent exfoliation, brightening treatments and diligent SPF. But deeper-set pigmentation is stubborn by nature: it was laid down over years, and shallow treatments simply can't reach where it lives. If you haven't already, my Hyperpigmentation 101 post explains the three main types of dark spots and why identifying yours matters. Knowing the type tells us how deep the problem goes; how deep it goes tells us which tool to use.

What the MelanoPro Peel System is

MelanoPro is a professional peel system designed for exactly this job: stubborn pigmentation, along with texture and fine lines. It works more intensively than the standard peels on my menu, which is why I treat it differently from everything else in my studio. It's priced as a med-spa service at $350 — outside my usual all-inclusive booking model — and it always begins with a phone consultation, not an online booking. I want to hear your pigment history, what you've tried, and what your skin has been through before we decide this is the right path.

A realistic multi-week process

Here's the part I refuse to sugarcoat: this is a process, not an appointment. The treatment itself is only the opening move. Over the following weeks your skin works through a renewal cycle — there's an adjustment period, a strict aftercare routine to follow at home, and results that reveal themselves gradually as fresher, more even-toned skin comes through. Clients who thrive with MelanoPro are the ones who can commit to the full timeline and follow instructions to the letter. If you have a big event in two weeks, this is not your treatment — and I'll tell you so on the phone.

The SPF contract

Every MelanoPro client agrees to what I call the SPF contract: broad-spectrum sunscreen, every single day, from now on. Not because I enjoy assigning homework, but because sun exposure is what triggers pigment production in the first place. Treating deep pigmentation and then skipping sunscreen is like repainting a wall while the leak is still running. Daily protection is what makes the results last — and it's non-negotiable, even in a Stockton December. Hats and shade earn extra credit, but the sunscreen habit is the foundation everything else stands on.

Who's a candidate

Good candidates have pigmentation that's proven resistant to gentler care, realistic expectations about timelines, and the willingness to protect their results. The phone consultation is where we sort this out honestly — including whether a series of standard peels might serve you just as well for less. If MelanoPro isn't right for you, I'll say so and point you to the better option. Get in touch and we'll talk it through.

And once the process is complete, maintenance is refreshingly ordinary: gentle regular facials to keep the skin healthy, brightening support when it's called for, and that daily sunscreen habit doing the quiet heavy lifting. Deep correction is the sprint; keeping the results is a comfortable walk — one my regular clients manage without thinking twice about it.

A note on melasma: because it's often driven by hormones, medications or other internal factors, melasma deserves a conversation with your doctor or dermatologist alongside any professional skincare — treatments can improve its appearance, but the underlying cause matters for lasting results.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the MelanoPro Peel System cost?

MelanoPro is a med-spa service priced at $350 — separate from my all-inclusive facial bookings, and it always begins with a free phone consultation so we can confirm it's the right tool before you spend anything. Call or text (209) 639-7637 to start that conversation.

How quickly will I see results?

Think weeks, not days. The process unfolds over a multi-week timeline as the skin renews, and pigmentation results build gradually through the aftercare phase. Anyone promising deep pigment gone in a weekend is selling something other than honesty.

Will it work on melasma?

It depends on the cause. Melasma is often driven by hormones and heat, which no topical treatment can switch off — so results vary and maintenance matters. That's exactly what the phone consultation sorts out, and hormone-related melasma is worth discussing with your doctor as well.

What does the treatment require from me afterward?

Discipline, mainly: following the aftercare plan exactly and wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen every single day — no exceptions. Sun exposure re-triggers the very pigment we're treating, so the SPF commitment isn't optional; it protects your investment.
