Why I Chose Eminence Organics: Biodynamic Skincare, Explained

By Jamie Sanchez, Licensed Esthetician · May 2024 · Truth In Beauty, Stockton CA

People ask me all the time why Eminence Organic Skin Care is the exclusive organic line in my studio. The short answer: I'm stubborn about proof. After 30 years in aesthetics, I've watched the word "organic" get slapped on everything from genuinely beautiful formulas to glorified scented lotion. When I decided my Stockton studio would offer truly organic facials, I wasn't going to take a label's word for it.

The vetting: proof over marketing

When I evaluate a product line, I do it the same way I evaluate everything in this industry — slowly, skeptically, and on real skin. I read ingredient lists instead of brochures. I ask where ingredients come from and what happens to them between the farm and the jar. Plenty of "natural" lines couldn't answer those questions convincingly. Eminence could, in detail, and that detail is what won me over.

The formulas performed, too. Skincare that's gentle but doesn't work is just a nice smell. What I found with Eminence was the combination I'd been hunting for: genuinely clean sourcing and results I could see on my clients' skin week after week.

To be clear, Eminence isn't the only line in my studio — I also work with Sorella Apothecary and Dermalogica, because different skin needs different tools. But when a client wants a truly organic facial, Eminence is the exclusive line I trust for it. That word "exclusive" is deliberate: I'd rather stand completely behind one organic line I've vetted to the roots than dabble in five I half-believe in.

What Biodynamic actually means

Here's the part worth understanding, because it's more than a fancier word for organic. Biodynamic® farming treats the whole farm as one self-sustaining ecosystem. The soil is enriched naturally rather than with synthetic fertilizers, no synthetic pesticides touch the plants, planting and harvesting follow natural cycles, and the standard is verified by strict independent certification — stricter than the requirements behind the word "organic" on its own.

Why should your face care about farming philosophy? Because plants grown in genuinely healthy soil, harvested at their peak, tend to be richer in the good stuff — and because everything that touches the plant eventually touches your skin. If a treatment is going to sit on your face for an hour, I want to know its whole story, right down to the dirt. It's also why "Biodynamic" can't be casually slapped on a label the way "natural" can — the certification is independently audited, which is exactly the kind of proof this skeptic requires.

The story that sealed it for me

There's a human reason behind this company that I find genuinely moving. Eminence's founder survived leukemia as a child — and that experience eventually shaped the Eminence Kids Foundation, which provides fresh, organic food to seriously ill children. A portion of product proceeds supports that mission, which means every Eminence treatment in my studio quietly contributes to it.

Anyone who knows me knows why that landed. Supporting people through illness is woven into how I practice — I'm oncology-trained, and my studio supports City of Hope. Finding a product line whose values ran that deep wasn't something I expected. It made an easy decision easier.

What this means on my treatment bed

Practically, it means when you book an organic facial with me, the products are the real thing — no harsh chemicals, no greenwashed shortcuts. Your appointment starts with a professional skin analysis, and I select from the Eminence range based on what your skin actually needs that day: calming for reactive skin, deeply hydrating for dry skin, gentle enzyme exfoliation for dull skin. Because my pricing is all-inclusive, those choices never cost extra — and because I don't do upsells, you'll never get a product pitch while you're relaxed and defenseless on my bed. If you're curious what I use and why, just ask during your visit — or read more about how I work on my about page. I love talking about this stuff, possibly a little too much.

Frequently asked questions

What does Biodynamic mean in skincare?

Biodynamic® farming is a certified growing method that goes beyond organic: the farm is treated as a self-sustaining ecosystem, with no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers and strict independent certification standards. In skincare, it means the plant ingredients are grown, harvested and handled to stricter requirements than the word organic alone guarantees.

Are Eminence facials good for sensitive skin?

The gentle, calming end of the Eminence line is one of my favorite tools for sensitive and reactive skin. As with any product, sensitive skin gets a cautious introduction — I select and test products based on your professional skin analysis at the start of every appointment.

Do I have to buy products to get results from an organic facial?

No. My appointments are all-inclusive with no upsells — the treatment itself is complete on its own. If you want to continue a product at home I'm happy to guide you, but there is never a sales pitch on my treatment bed.

What is the Eminence Kids Foundation?

The Eminence Kids Foundation provides fresh, organic food to seriously ill children — a mission that grew from the founder's own childhood experience surviving leukemia. A portion of product proceeds supports it, which means every Eminence treatment quietly contributes to that work.
